Frequently asked

Why is Starter cheaper than self-hosting my own server?+

It isn't cheaper than free — self-hosting the core is $0 forever. Starter is for teams who'd rather not run a backend at all: a managed database, real per-person accounts, and someone else's uptime problem, for $3/month.

What exactly does a 'site' mean for the plan limit?+

One domain you've installed the widget on. Starter covers one, Pro covers two, Agency covers fifteen — all under a single account and a single subscription, no per-site checkout.

Can I mix monthly and yearly?+

Starter is yearly-only ($3/mo billed as $36/year). Pro and Agency can be billed monthly or yearly from the same account page — yearly is roughly two months free either way.

What happens if I outgrow my plan's site limit?+

On Starter or Pro, creating another site past your limit is blocked with a clear message — upgrading to the next plan raises it immediately. Agency is different: past 15 sites, new ones are simply billed at $3.5/mo ($35/yr) each instead of being blocked.

How does Agency's per-extra-site pricing work?+

The first 15 sites are included in the $59/mo (or $590/yr) subscription. Site 16 and beyond are each billed at $3.5/mo, or $35/yr on the yearly plan — added to the same account, same one bill, no separate checkout.

Do self-hosted and hosted run the same code?+

Yes — the hosted product proxies the exact same open-source widget from GitHub. Hosted plans add managed infrastructure, accounts, rich content, drafts/versions, and approvals; they never touch or gate the widget itself.
